DESCRIPTION:This workshop is for new\, old or current cyclists looking to increase their knowledge on bike maintenance by an experienced\, professional bike mechanic. It will be facilitated a qualified bike fitter and a lifelong cyclist. Ian had his own shop here in Kilkenny\, The Cycle Clinic! \nAfter this class\, you will have confidence to carry out basic repairs and replacements to your bike. DESCRIPTION:A person appointed to the role of Club Children’s Officer within a club must have firstly completed Sport Irelands Safeguarding 1 (Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness workshop). \nThey should also complete Sport Irelands Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer 3 hour workshop. The aim of this workshop is to help the Club Children’s Officer to carry out their role and support the implementation of best practice in the club. Participants will also receive a Club Children’s Officer Action Planning document as part of the training. Attendees must be over 18 years of age. \nThe Sport Ireland online Safeguarding 2 Workshop (via Zoom) is an interactive course which requires participants to have : \n\nGood internet connection to allow you to have a video / take part in group discussion\n\n\nAccess to email – Zoom link and course materials will be sent out to participants prior to course date.\n\nTo gain accreditation\, it is essential to complete the whole course \nThe online course will be delivered via Zoom. DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny Recreation and Sports Partnership are delighted to run a first aid courses open only to sports clubs in Kilkenny! \nThe recognition\, assessment\, and immediate on-site management of sports injuries are crucial to facilitate rehabilitation and to minimise further risk of harm to the athlete. This course is designed for coaches\, instructors\, teachers\, supervisors\, sports assistants\, and volunteers\, teaches the medical assessment and management of a wide variety of sports injuries. Importantly\, participants will also know how to recognise when professional medical referral is warranted. \nUpon successful completion of the course participants are presented with an Sports First Aid Certificate which is valid for two years. \nIncluded in the training are the basic techniques of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)\, the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and the action to take in the event of choking for children. During the resuscitation training we use a ratio of 1:1 (1 manikin for each participant) this gives you the maximum hands-on practical training and affords the best hygiene standards. \nThe course takes place from 9-4pm in Unit 9\, Cillian Hill.  \nOnly 2 volunteers per club is permitted.  \nFor more information please contact Ciara on 085-8782773 or ciara@krsp.ie

Whether you are already doing some activities with us or whether it’s your first time to engage with us\, you are more than welcome to Give It A Try Week. \nWe have tried to keep the cost to a minimum so that as many of you as possible can attend all the events. The total cost for ALL 6 activities will be €15. You can pay this online or by cash (receipted) on Monday 17th or Tuesday 18th June. \nWhen you are booking\, please\, tick the events you are going to attend. Please note there is unlimited availability for 2 events Community Walk on Thursday and for Football For All. \nALL other activities have a maximum number of participants – spinning (15); cycling on the Watershed track (20); outdoor fun & games in Watershed (30); aqua fun in the pool (20). This module will help to create and maintain a safe and fun environment for young people within the sports club or organisation. DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership will deliver Chair Based Pilates/gentle exercise programme specifically for older adults and people with additional needs who are living in the Callan area. We invite everybody to participate. DESCRIPTION:Football For All Programme gives an opportunity to play football to people who may not ordinarily get a chance to play the ‘beautiful game’. Many agencies and groups recognise how football can contribute to the quality of life to all participants. \nA new 10-week session starts on Monday September 23rd from 2.30 to 3.30pm in the Watershed. The programme will run for 10 weeks to December 2nd. Thanks to funding from Healthy Kilkenny this programme is run at a minimum cost to participants. The programme will take place at the Watershed Sports Hall. \nThere are two options for payment. You can pay online here with card (€20 for 10 weeks) or pay cash on the first or second day (receipted). SUMMARY:Swim Buddy application
DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership organise a programme of supported swim lessons for children with disabilities. This swim programme caters for children who require additional support in the water while learning to swim\, this may be because of physical\, sensory or a learning disability. The programme gives children a chance to avail of swim lessons in a supported environment. \nThe classes typically run in 10 week block from October to December and January to Easter and finally a six week block from Easter to end of school term. \nThe focus of the lessons is to ensure the children have fun and become comfortable in the pool and relaxed in the water! Once the child is relaxed in the water\, the learning begins! \nTo ensure that all children get the attention they need\, KRSP run a volunteer programme for swim buddies. Our volunteer swim buddies are transition year students in local secondary schools and often participate as part of their An Gaisce award. It is also a useful way of helping to build your early stage CV. \nRole of the Volunteer Swim Buddy \n\nTo provide one to one assistance to children with additional needs in the water.\nVolunteers must be able to commit to attend the majority of the classes.\nEncouraging enjoyment and fun in the water is the volunteer’s most important role.\n\nWhat is needed for the role? \n\nA willingness to help others – bring your personality to the child.\nVolunteers must be comfortable being in the water (not necessary to be a brilliant swimmer!) and an interest in swimming or aquatics would be an advantage!\nVolunteers should be willing to put children at ease and be encouraging to all!\n\nYouth volunteer application MUST BE completed by a parent / guardian on behalf of the youth volunteer. KRSP will only communicate with parents / guardians on this programme. \nYouth volunteers must be aged 15-17 years old. Those aged 16/17 will be Garda vetted with parental/guardian consent. While the Garda Vetting process takes place\, those who are 15 years old will join the programme in September. Those not 16 until after Christmas\, or those already vetted by KRSP will join the programme in January. This will ensure that the programme is up and running on time for the young swimmers. \nKRSP staff will be on hand at all times to help\, encourage and manage the volunteer group. We are always on deck for every minute of the programme to help. \nThis programme is funded by Healthy Ireland. The Healthy Ireland Fund is supported by the Department of Health.

DESCRIPTION:Designated Liaison Person (DLP) – Every club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The DLP is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TULSA Child and Family Agency or Social Services (NI) and/or An Garda Siochána / PSNI. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person. However\, if there is difficulty identifying a separate individual to take this role\, the Club Children’s Officer can be appointed as DLP once the club/organisation is clear about the responsibilities of each role.  The organisation’s child protection policy and procedures should include the name and contact details of the DLP and the responsibilities attached to the role. \nA person appointed to the Designated Liaison Person position in a club must firstly complete Sport Irelands Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Workshop and should complete the Sport Irelands Designated Liaison Person 3 hour workshop. Attendees must be over 18 years of age. \nA club may appoint the same person to both the CCO and DLP positions however best practice advises that they are kept as separate roles. \nThe Sport Ireland online Safeguarding 3 Workshop (via Zoom) is an interactive course which requires participants to have : \n\nGood internet connection to allow you to have a video / take part in group discussion\n\n\nAccess to email – Zoom link and course materials will be sent out to participants prior to course date.\n\nTo gain accreditation\, it is essential to complete the whole course \nThe online course will be delivered via Zoom.
