SUMMARY:Callan Community Chair Based Pilates
DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership will deliver Chair Based Pilates/gentle exercise programme specifically for older adults and people with additional needs who are living in the Callan area. We invite everybody to participate. The programme will run from September 23rd to December 2nd with no class on October 28th (mid term / Halloween). \nCome along\, enjoy the company and the Pilates and feel good afterwards. Please note that all participants MUST BE REGISTERED BEFOREHAND – no registrations on the day. You can pay fees with card online or alternatively pay €30 cash on the first and second morning only. SUMMARY:Football For All Autumn 2024
DESCRIPTION:Football For All Programme gives an opportunity to play football to people who may not ordinarily get a chance to play the ‘beautiful game’. Many agencies and groups recognise how football can contribute to the quality of life to all participants. \nA new 10-week session starts on Monday September 23rd from 2.30 to 3.30pm in the Watershed. The programme will run for 10 weeks to December 2nd. Thanks to funding from Healthy Kilkenny this programme is run at a minimum cost to participants. The programme will take place at the Watershed Sports Hall. \nThere are two options for payment. You can pay online here with card (€20 for 10 weeks) or pay cash on the first or second day (receipted). Participants must book in advance either way so that we have your emergency details etc. If paying cash\, please use the FREE ticket option here. \nThe programme will have a coach leading activities each week and ALL ARE WELCOME. More participants\, more fun\, better sessions! The sessions will include warm up\, ball skills\, mini game and cool down. The sessions are suitable for everybody. DESCRIPTION:Monday Night Walks is a 10 week walking programme taking place in Kilkenny City! SUMMARY:Swim Buddy application
DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership organise a programme of supported swim lessons for children with disabilities. This swim programme caters for children who require additional support in the water while learning to swim\, this may be because of physical\, sensory or a learning disability. The programme gives children a chance to avail of swim lessons in a supported environment. \nThe classes typically run in 10 week block from October to December and January to Easter and finally a six week block from Easter to end of school term. \nThe focus of the lessons is to ensure the children have fun and become comfortable in the pool and relaxed in the water! Once the child is relaxed in the water\, the learning begins! \nTo ensure that all children get the attention they need\, KRSP run a volunteer programme for swim buddies. Our volunteer swim buddies are transition year students in local secondary schools and often participate as part of their An Gaisce award. It is also a useful way of helping to build your early stage CV. \nRole of the Volunteer Swim Buddy \n\nTo provide one to one assistance to children with additional needs in the water.\nVolunteers must be able to commit to attend the majority of the classes.\nEncouraging enjoyment and fun in the water is the volunteer’s most important role.\n\nWhat is needed for the role? \n\nA willingness to help others – bring your personality to the child.\nVolunteers must be comfortable being in the water (not necessary to be a brilliant swimmer!) and an interest in swimming or aquatics would be an advantage!\nVolunteers should be willing to put children at ease and be encouraging to all!\n\nYouth volunteer application MUST BE completed by a parent / guardian on behalf of the youth volunteer. KRSP will only communicate with parents / guardians on this programme. \nYouth volunteers must be aged 15-17 years old. Those aged 16/17 will be Garda vetted with parental/guardian consent. While the Garda Vetting process takes place\, those who are 15 years old will join the programme in September. Those not 16 until after Christmas\, or those already vetted by KRSP will join the programme in January. This will ensure that the programme is up and running on time for the young swimmers. \nKRSP staff will be on hand at all times to help\, encourage and manage the volunteer group. We are always on deck for every minute of the programme to help. \nThis programme is funded by Healthy Ireland. The Healthy Ireland Fund is supported by the Department of Health.

SUMMARY:KRSP - STRETCH & MOVE AUTUMN 2024
DESCRIPTION:Come and walk with us on this tutor led programme each Friday morning at 10.00-11.00am. The programme is 10 weeks long from September 27th to December 6th with no walk on November 1st (mid term / Halloween). \nMeet at the Coffee Shop in Kilkenny Castle Park each Friday morning for 10am start. We will be supplying Activator Walking Poles (similar to Nordic Poles) as these help us to stretch\, walk in a nice upright way and they’re also useful for balance and for doing some light exercises when we’re finished our walk. You don’t have to use the poles if you don’t wish. ALL levels and abilities are welcome to join in the programme and we look forward to seeing you there. Nobody will be left behind. DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership will resume this programme on Fridays for 10 weeks starting on September 27th to December 6th. There will be no class on November 1st (mid term break). \nA variety of activities each Friday that are suitable for all to take part in and a relaxed fun environment with no competitive element is guaranteed. It is essential that care staff attend to support their people. \nThe cost for the 10 week programme is €20. This can be paid here online by card.
