DESCRIPTION:4 session kayaking beginner skills course will run in conjunction with Graiguenamanagh Canoe Club members and instructors! \nThis course will be run on 25th and 26 of August and the 1st and 2nd of September from 7 to 9pm. Please arrive 15minutes early to get kitted out! Based at Graiguenamanagh Canoe Club premises at Graiguenamanagh Boat Club. \nParticipants will be introduced to kayaking and have fun! Progression to the club will be available! \nThis programme is open to adult women 18+ years \nParticipants MUST attend the first session as this runs through the safety! If you are unable to make the first session you cannot partake in the following sessions!! \n• ALL participants MUST pre-register online. DESCRIPTION:HerOutdoors is a week designated to encouraging women and girls to get active in the outdoors! This year we have a multiple programmes and courses available to get girls out and moving! HerOutdoors week is the 11th – 17th of August. \nThis programme is available to: \n\nTeenage Girls from 5-6pm \nAdult Women (18+) from 6-7pm\n\nThe 2 session intro programme will be conducted by a trained instructor. This is open to complete beginners! DESCRIPTION:This Safeguarding 1 ‘Child Welfare and Protection in Sport’ training is a 3 hour basic awareness course\, looking at how we can keep adults and young people safe and happy within the club environment. This course is open to sports leaders\, coaches\, parents\, children’s officers and other adults involved in the organisation of sport for young people. This module will help to create and maintain a safe and fun environment for young people within the sports club or organisation. Attendees must be over 18 years of age. \nThe Sport Ireland online Safeguarding 1 Workshop (via Zoom) is an interactive course which requires participants to have : \n\nGood internet connection to allow you to have a video / take part in group discussion.\nAccess to email – Zoom link and course materials will be sent out to participants prior to course date.\n\nTo gain accreditation\, it is essential to complete the whole course. \nThe online course will be delivered via Zoom. SUMMARY:2025 KRSP Swim Buddy application form
DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership organise a programme of supported swim lessons for children with disabilities. This swim programme caters for children who require additional support in the water while learning to swim\, this may be because of physical\, sensory or a learning disability. The programme gives children a chance to avail of swim lessons in a supported environment. \nThe classes run each Wednesday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm in 10/12 week block from October to December and January to Easter and finally a six week block from Easter to end of school term. Volunteers will be matched up to attend either one or two sessions per week depending on numbers volunteering. \nThe focus of the lessons is to ensure the children have fun and become comfortable in the pool and relaxed in the water! Once the child is relaxed in the water\, the learning begins! \nTo ensure that all children get the attention they need\, KRSP run a volunteer programme for swim buddies. Our volunteer swim buddies are transition year students in local secondary schools and often participate as part of their An Gaisce award. It is also a useful way of helping to build your early stage CV. \nRole of the Volunteer Swim Buddy \n\nTo provide one to one assistance to children with additional needs in the water.\nVolunteers must be able to commit to attend the majority of the classes.\nEncouraging enjoyment and fun in the water is the volunteer’s most important role.\n\nWhat is needed for the role? \n\nA willingness to help others – bring your personality to the child.\nVolunteers must be comfortable being in the water (not necessary to be a brilliant swimmer!) and an interest in swimming or aquatics would be an advantage!\nVolunteers should be willing to put children at ease and be encouraging to all!\n\nYouth volunteer application MUST BE completed by a parent / guardian on behalf of the youth volunteer. KRSP will only communicate with parents / guardians on this programme. \nYouth volunteers must be aged 15-17 years old. Those aged 16/17 will be Garda vetted with parental/guardian consent. While the Garda Vetting process takes place\, those who are 15 years old will join the programme in September. Those not 16 until after Christmas\, or those already vetted by KRSP will join the programme in January. This will ensure that the programme is up and running on time for the young swimmers. \nKRSP staff will be on hand at all times to help\, encourage and manage the volunteer group. We are always on deck for every minute of the programme to help. \nThis programme is funded by Healthy Ireland. The Healthy Ireland Fund is supported by the Department of Health.
