SUMMARY:2025 KRSP Swim Buddy application form
DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership organise a programme of supported swim lessons for children with disabilities. This swim programme caters for children who require additional support in the water while learning to swim\, this may be because of physical\, sensory or a learning disability. The programme gives children a chance to avail of swim lessons in a supported environment. \nThe classes run each Wednesday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm in 10/12 week block from October to December and January to Easter and finally a six week block from Easter to end of school term. Volunteers will be matched up to attend either one or two sessions per week depending on numbers volunteering. \nThe focus of the lessons is to ensure the children have fun and become comfortable in the pool and relaxed in the water! Once the child is relaxed in the water\, the learning begins! \nTo ensure that all children get the attention they need\, KRSP run a volunteer programme for swim buddies. Our volunteer swim buddies are transition year students in local secondary schools and often participate as part of their An Gaisce award. It is also a useful way of helping to build your early stage CV. \nRole of the Volunteer Swim Buddy \n\nTo provide one to one assistance to children with additional needs in the water.\nVolunteers must be able to commit to attend the majority of the classes.\nEncouraging enjoyment and fun in the water is the volunteer’s most important role.\n\nWhat is needed for the role? \n\nA willingness to help others – bring your personality to the child.\nVolunteers must be comfortable being in the water (not necessary to be a brilliant swimmer!) and an interest in swimming or aquatics would be an advantage!\nVolunteers should be willing to put children at ease and be encouraging to all!\n\nYouth volunteer application MUST BE completed by a parent / guardian on behalf of the youth volunteer. KRSP will only communicate with parents / guardians on this programme. \nYouth volunteers must be aged 15-17 years old. Those aged 16/17 will be Garda vetted with parental/guardian consent. While the Garda Vetting process takes place\, those who are 15 years old will join the programme in September. Those not 16 until after Christmas\, or those already vetted by KRSP will join the programme in January. This will ensure that the programme is up and running on time for the young swimmers. \nKRSP staff will be on hand at all times to help\, encourage and manage the volunteer group. We are always on deck for every minute of the programme to help. \nThis programme is funded by Healthy Ireland. The Healthy Ireland Fund is supported by the Department of Health.

SUMMARY:2025 KRSP Multisport Fridays
DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership will resume this programme on Fridays for 10 weeks starting on October 3rd and running until December 12th There will be a break then for mid term October 31st. \nA variety of activities each Friday that are suitable for all to take part in and a relaxed fun environment with no competitive element is guaranteed. It is essential that care staff attend to support their people. We will have Leinster Rugby and FAI football with Will from FAI Kilkenny. We will also introduce Pickleball and Badminton in this term \nThe cost for the 10 week programme is €20. This can be paid here online by card. If paying by card is not suitable then you MUST register here using the ‘Pay On The Day’ ticket option. We will accept cash payment on the first and second day of the programme. DESCRIPTION:Stretch & Move \nKilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership are happy to announce that this programme will resume on Mondays from November 3rd at 10am to 11am. It will run for 6 weeks to December 15th. The programme uses Activator Poles (like Nordic Poles). Participants do not have to use them if they do now wish. It will take place from Michael Dore’s café in the Castle Park and follow routes in the park (with kind permission from the OPW). The cost will be €12\, and this includes use of the poles (supplied). \nMeet at the Coffee Shop in Kilkenny Castle Park each Monday morning for 10am start. We will be supplying Activator Walking Poles (similar to Nordic Poles) as these help us to stretch\, walk in a nice upright way and they’re also useful for balance and for doing some light exercises when we’re finished our walk. You don’t have to use the poles if you don’t wish. ALL levels and abilities are welcome to join in the programme and we look forward to seeing you there. Nobody will be left behind. Come out\, walk and chat. \nParticipants must register in advance. You can pay with card online or with cash on day one. SUMMARY:KRSP Callan Community Chair Based Pilates November 2025
DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership will deliver Chair Based Pilates exercise programme specifically for older adults and adults with additional needs who are living in the Callan area. We invite everybody to participate. The programme will run from Thursday November 6th to December 11th from 10am to 11am each day. We invite you all to come along\, enjoy the company and the Pilates and feel good afterwards. \nPlease note that all participants MUST BE REGISTERED BEFOREHAND – no registrations on the day. Under no circumstance can somebody attend without being registered – no exceptions. You can pay fees with card online or alternatively register online and pay €15 cash on the first morning only.
