DESCRIPTION:Date & Time & Location\nThursday\, 17th September\, 6.30pm to 9.30pm\, Online \nAbout the Event\nThis Safeguarding 1 ‘Child Welfare and Protection in Sport’ training is a 3 hour basic awareness course\, looking at how we can keep adults and young people safe and happy within the club environment. This module will help to create and maintain a safe and fun environment for young people within the sports club or organisation. Attendees must be over 18 years of age. \nEssential Information\nThe Sport Ireland online Safeguarding 1 Workshop (via Zoom) is an interactive course which requires participants to have : \n\nGood internet connection to allow you to have a video / take part in group discussion.\nAccess to email – Zoom link and course materials will be sent out to participants prior to course date.\nAttendees must be over 18 years of age.\nTo gain accreditation\, it is essential to complete the whole course.\nThe online course will be delivered via Zoom.\nSport Ireland certificate will be issued by e-mail and participant details are registered with Sport Ireland’s National Database.\n\nSuited To\nThis course is open to sports leaders\, coaches\, parents\, children’s officers and other adults involved in the organisation of sport for young people. \nCost & Booking\n€15 \nContact\nShould you require any further information on accessing the online safeguarding workshop feel free to contact Mairead at mairead@krsp.ie or 087 065 0983.

SUMMARY:2026-2027 KRSP Swim Buddy application form
DESCRIPTION:Kilkenny Recreation & Sports Partnership organise a programme of supported swim lessons for children with disabilities. This swim programme caters for children who require additional support in the water while learning to swim\, this may be because of physical\, sensory or a learning disability. The programme gives children a chance to avail of swim lessons in a supported environment. \nThe classes run each Wednesday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm in 10/12 week block from September to December and January to end of April. Volunteers will be matched up to support the children. \nThe focus of the lessons is to ensure the children have fun and become comfortable in the pool and relaxed in the water! Once the child is relaxed in the water\, the learning begins! \nTo ensure that all children get the attention they need\, KRSP run a volunteer programme for swim buddies. Our volunteer swim buddies are Transition Year students in local secondary schools and often participate as part of their An Gaisce award. It is also a useful way of helping to build your early stage CV. \nRole of the Volunteer Swim Buddy \n\nTo provide one to one assistance to children with additional needs in the water.\nVolunteers must be able to commit to attend the majority of the classes.\nEncouraging enjoyment and fun in the water is the volunteer’s most important role.\n\nWhat is needed for the role? \n\nA willingness to help others – bring your personality to the child.\nVolunteers must be comfortable being in the water (not necessary to be a brilliant swimmer!) and an interest in swimming or aquatics would be an advantage!\nVolunteers should be willing to put children at ease and be encouraging to all!\n\nYouth volunteer application MUST BE completed by a parent / guardian on behalf of the youth volunteer. KRSP will only communicate with parents / guardians on this programme. \nYouth volunteers must be aged 15-17 years old. Those aged 16/17 will be Garda vetted with parental/guardian consent. While the Garda Vetting process takes place\, those who are 15 years old will join the programme in September. Those not 16 until after Christmas\, or those already vetted by KRSP will join the programme in January. This will ensure that the programme is up and running on time for the young swimmers. \nKRSP staff will be on hand at all times to help\, encourage and manage the volunteer group. We are always on deck for every minute of the programme to help. \nThis programme is funded by Healthy Ireland. The Healthy Ireland Fund is supported by the Department of Health.
