The aim of this study is to explore the experiences of the Ossory Youth LGBTQ+ group in sport and physical activity in Kilkenny and to identify what KRSP can do to improve this experience.
Objectives:
KRSP will collaborate with IT Carlow and Ossory Youth and carry out targeted research to examine the challenges members of the LGBTQ+ community experience in sports and physical activity in Kilkenny. The research will examine participation in sport and physical activity (sports club membership, perception of personal exercise, volunteering); awareness levels of what is on offer for sports and physical activity in Kilkenny; awareness in LGBTQ+ group of KRSP and programmes offered by KRSP. It will investigate ways that KRSP can improve the experience of young LGBTI+ group members in sports and physical activity in Kilkenny thus improving participation levels. The research will investigate ways which KRSP and it’s partners (IT Carlow and Ossory Youth) might support increased participation for the LGBTQ+ community.
